Scandinavian Hjemkomst and Midwest Viking Festival
Each year the festival pays special tribute to the cultures of Finland and the Saami, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, or Denmark. Each culture will be celebrated during the event. Indoors the festival features musical entertainment, presenters, goods, and food from each of the cultures. Outdoors the Midwest Viking Festival hosts a living Viking Village complete with craftsman, music, and daily battle reenactments.
In 2016, we will be celebrating Iceland at our festival! Join us at the Hjemkomst Center on June 24 and 25 from 10 am-5 pm for music, food, and entertainment! We will share more information about the even as we draw nearer to the festival!

We are happy to welcome New York Kammermusiker to the festival! This double reed ensemble specializes in Renaissance and Baroque music. They have been learning additional Icelandic music for the occasion. Join us Saturday June 25 to enjoy their performances.This activity is funded in part by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation.
We will be providing audio description, human guides, American Sign Language interpreters, assistive listening devices and print materials in alternative formats upon request.
